What People are saying about McLean-Sherwood:

“…thanking you for your outstanding support and response to our tornado dilemna on the Friday, prior to our Highland Games. In this day of dwindling service & response to emergencies, your actions at that time were exemplary. Had you not come through, we certainly would have been in a tight spot.”
Bill Miller – President, Georgetown Highland Games

“Your team has always gone above and beyond to help answer my questions, or find just the right thing I need. From the girls taking my order, to the guys dropping it off. So a great big thank you to all your amazing team! “

Birthdays, Big or Small

It is a new year and, although two months have gone by, there are many days of Birthdays left to celebrate this year. A Birthday is something special and should be celebrated, however, they don’t need to be big, fancy parties every year. Do something small, but still exciting. Decorations, dinner, cake, presents, a few balloons, and for kids the little party hats. Something fun, but something simple.

Instead of forking out all sorts of money to buy a fancy cake from a Dairy Queen or a bakery, why not try to make one yourself. Cakes are actually very simple to make when following a recipe carefully. Here is a simple recipe to try that could help you save money to celebrate a certain someone’s special day.

The Ultimate Chocolate Cake: (www.tasteofhome.com)

Ingredients

Directions
1. In a bowl, combine the first seven ingredients; mix well. Stir in chocolate chips. Coat a 10-in. fluted tube pan with cooking spray and dust with flour; add batter.
2. Bake at 350° for 45-50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pan to a wire rack to cool completely. Dust with confectioners’ sugar. 12 servings.

Happy Baking!
